This has been a SUPER exciting and SUPER exhausting dance season. Sophia dances 13 hours a week which is 12 dance classes plus 2 private lesson in tap and technique. It's very difficult to explain with any amount of logic why on Earth she dances so much but I can say that she is the most dedicated, disciplined, AND HAPPY 7 year old we know. Yes, she "needs" to be a child but she is!! She has lots of play time at school and on breaks at dance and on the weekends when we're not away at dance competitions. We make sure she has enough "free" time although can't say we believe in a ton of "free" time for children anyway. She is very serious about dance. Sophia is learning valuable life lessons, many of which we don't learn until much later in life. One of the most valuable is how to take constructive criticism and learn from it(rather than crumble into a million pieces). She is critiqued but judges, her peers, and her coaches regularly and has learned to grow and thrive as a result. She inspires us every day and we love that she is so so dedicated:) She even placed 1st place overall in her very first year as a soloist. This is HUGE. Our coaches said you are lucky to place at all your first solo season. She's truly amazing!!
