Sophia's dance recital and VERY exciting DANCE news!

Sophia's birthday weekend was such a whirlwind this year.  Her first dance recital fell on July 20th and we'd planned a small get together at the pool that same day to celebrate her birthday.  Also, the day before was her dress rehearsal in Oxnard so we were running around but we made it all happen! She did AMAZING at her recital.  Mama AND Nana were both backstage while Daddy, Grandma, and Grandpa, and Nonno, were all in the audience.  She had a tap routine("Supercalifragilis") and a ballet routine("Let it Go") and was very jittery but in the end did so so well.  Her teacher had mentioned to us after the recital that Sophia is ready to try out for their competing Tap team so we asked her if she wanted to and she was VERY excited about it.  She told us we should to put her in nearly daily classes for 3 weeks straight before tryouts and we did and she grew so much in those 3 weeks(it was really amazing to watch!).  Not only did her confidence grow but we watched her technique go through the roof! The day after we got back from our Arizona trip we had to drag Phia out of bed very early for the tryouts.  Not sure she really understood what she was doing and the tryouts were closed to observers so Mama had no idea what was going on in the room.  Turns out, she was the youngest(and least experienced) girl asked to try out so we weren't sure she'd make it this year so we just saw this as a practice run. The results came out late Sunday night(11pm to be exact) and by then we thought she hadn't made it.  However, the e-mail came in and she made the tap team!! The owners told us they were blown away by her confidence at tryouts.  We are so so proud of her.  This studio is highly regarded and so very competitive(scares mommy a bit but not Sophia thankfully).  The "under 7" jazz team took home a first place trophy this year at KAR Nationals in Vegas and now we'll get to watch Sophia compete on that very stage next summer!!! We start traveling monthly to locations all over Southern California in January for her competitions and the season ends in July with a week long KAR competition in VEGAS!  She will take 4 dance classes a week leading up so now our soon-to-be kindergartner has a LOT on her plate but she can do it:) So so so happy!!
